Iran’s Global Rank in Copper Production to Boost

If Iran’s state and National Iranian Copper Industries Company’s plans reach the desired results in the next few years, there is a possibility of promoting the country’s rank among copper producers all over the world, reported by IMIDRO’s PR.
Commenting on the low copper production despite of the rich reserves in the country, the Executive Secretary of Iran Mine House, said: “It have to be considered that countries such as Chile had a say in the copper industry from 30 to 40 years ago, while Sarcheshmeh Copper incepted its operation after the Islamic Revolution of Iran. In fact, we started too late, but the current trend of copper production promises rapid changes in this area.”
Reminding that it is not a good idea to model Chile in producing copper, he added: “Modeling is not sound in economic issues, as the political, geographical, environmental and national economies of countries are different.”
Eng. Gholamreza Hamidi Anaraki called Iran’s relationship with other countries enjoying updated mining technology satisfactory.
“Iran’s copper mines, in terms of functionality, planning, facilities and processing facilities, is justified with developed countries,” he said.
He evaluated the future of copper industry in Iran promising based on the good potential and called it as the most important factor of production.
“The development of mining and smelting industry is not the end of the line, especially in the case of copper, as the copper industry will contribute the development of advanced technology of electrical and electronics in the country.”
