Implementation and commissioning of eight steel plans by National Iranian Steel Co. in eight provinces will remain as a turning point in the country’s steel industry, reported by IMIDRO’s PR.
Mohammad Najm al-Sadat said that upon exploitation of the projects since 2011 to 2013, a total of 8 million tons will be added to the steel capacity of the country.
“During the past five years, we had the most stable growth of steel production in the Middle East and by using the power of domestic engineering in manufacturing the production line and implementation of development scheduling plan based on long-term steel industry, Iran will continue this development trend and keeps its rank as the first in the Middle East,” he reiterated.
Managing Director of National Iranian Steel Co. noted that the growing movement of steel production in Iran has followed a logical rhythm since 2005, so that even during the global economic crisis in 2009 that many countries were forced to reduce steel production, Iran, with more than 9 percent boost, had the highest growth rate of steel production in the Middle East, and even the world. The trend went on in the first four months of 2010.
He added that some regional countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey and Qatar decreased their production sharply under the influences of the crisis in 2009, so the rate of their production in 2010 displays a boost compared with the first four months of 2009, while this increase is not due to the increase of the production or capacity.
He expressed hope that with the implementation of undertaken plans, Iran’s steel production will reach to 20 million tons annually in coming three to four years.
