Code:
5117
Date:
Friday 16 July 2010
A new mines’ bill, based on giving originality to the private sector, as well as proclamation of Article 44 of the constitution was submitted to the parliament, reported by IMIRO’s PR.
Unveiling the news, Deputy Minister of Industries and Mines noted: “According to the new economic laws and lightening the presence of the government in the mining sector, a new bill was submitted to the parliament for approving mines’ law. The current law of mines was enacted in 1998 based on the defined rules that a major part of the economy was owned by the government, thus now a new bill based on the amendment of Article 44 of the constitution is sent to the parliament to expand the investment of the private sector in Iran’s economy.
Pointing out that the new bill is a result of experts’ activities in two years, Deputy Minister of Mining and Mineral Industries noted: “In last 2 years the experts of 30 provinces alongside Iran Mine House, Iranian Society of Mining Engineering and other relevant organizations evaluated the bill and applied their views.”
Mohammad Masoud Sami Nejad added that after that point, a new re-edit will be carried out by a team of mine and legal affairs’ experts.
Reminding the issue of disagreement between the miners and other institutions, the official said: “Another considered issue was resolving the different views with state- run bodies and relevant organizations, so that by inviting the officials and experts of the aforementioned sectors, the differences will be discussed and new strategies will be included in the bill for implementation.”
Sami Nejad also asserted that upon approval of the bill in the parliament and its conversion to the law, other issues such as the presence of the government in large mines will not be raised and the status of the state will be defined as a policy making body.
